Overview
Advancements in cancer immunotherapy have revolutionized the oncologic treatment landscape and improved patients' outcomes.This program provides an overview of current chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapies. Expert faculty will discuss the mechanism of action, indications, safety and toxicity profiles including cytokine release syndrome and neurotoxicity.
Learning Objectives:
- Review the mechanism of action of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapies
- Discuss unique adverse events of CAR T-cell therapy: cytokine release syndrome and neurotoxicity
- Define appropriate candidates for CAR T-cell therapy
- Compare the efficacy and safety of FDA-approved CAR T-cell therapies
Target Audience
This activity is intended for oncology nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, nurse navigators, medical assistants, and other healthcare providers involved in the care of cancer patients.

Jeana Faske BSN, RN, OCN (Moderator)
Jeana Faske is the Manager of Nursing Education and Infection Control for Texas Oncology. She joined the company in 2006 and worked as a clinic nurse for a medical oncologist/hematologist and then went on to work as a nurse manager. She graduated from West Texas A&M University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.
Shannon Palmer, PharmD, BCOP (Speaker)
Shannon Palmer, PharmD, BCOP is a Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant Pharmacist at Oregon Health and Sciences University in Portland, Oregon. She completed her PGY1 Acute Care Residency and PGY2 Oncology Residency at the University of North Carolina Medical Center and pharmacy school at the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy..
